Working Church Fire

On Tuesday July 22, 2014 @ 1112 hours Wicomico Central alerted Stations 5, 9 and 74 for a reported structure fire in a church at 8700 Memory Gardens Lane. E/T-5 responded with 519 and 3. While enroute a large column of smoke could be seen and a Tanker Task Force was immediately requested. As E/T-5 arrived on location a large volume of fire was visible from the Charlie (C) roof. Lt. Parker (519) established the command. Handlines were placed in service in an attempt to slow the progress of the fire but due to the fire load and fuel load the incident was deemed Defensive only. Aerial master streams were placed in service and command was placed under control @ 1228 hours.

Command was terminated @ 1551 hours.
