EMS and Rescue assist in Delmar

Delmar Fire Dept was already operating on-scene of a serious motorcycle accident requring aviation when a second emergency was dispatched. The second call involved a subject with a hand crushed between a vehicle and tire. Hebron and Salisbury were both dispatched to respond to that call. 

 

EMS 74 responded from Delmar and confirmed entrapment. Hebron Paramedic A-5, Ladder 5 and Salisbury Reacue 1 also responded.

Rescue 1 used a jack to lift the vehicle and free the patient's hand. Paramedic A-5 treated the patient on-scene while aviation was en route. Ladder 5 assisted with setting up a landing zone.

 

A Maryland State Police helicopter was handling the motorcycle accident, so Delaware State Police Trooper 2 helicopter responded to this incident. Trooper 2 transported the patient to the Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.
